Partner marketing legal guidelines - Slovakia

How merchants in Slovakia can advertise Klarna credit products using pre-approved copy and the CCD2 disclosures that apply from 20 November 2026.
13 min read
These guidelines explain how merchants can advertise Klarna's credit products in Slovakia. You may use Klarna's pre-approved marketing copy and disclosures exactly as shown on this page.
The disclosures on this page apply from 20 November 2026, when the revised Consumer Credit Directive (CCD2) applies in Slovakia.
Integration requirement
You are legally responsible for the advertising you publish.
Klarna does not provide legal advice. If you are unsure whether your marketing complies with applicable laws, seek independent legal advice.
Merchants who publish non-compliant marketing may be required to remove or amend it. Repeated or serious violations may result in removal from Klarna.

How these guidelines work

Use pre-approved copy (no approval required)
If you use the pre-approved marketing copy and the disclosure shown for that line, no further approval is required. You may publish immediately. Klarna's On-Site Messaging is also pre-approved. Klarna will update those assets before 20 November 2026.
No modifications to approved copy or disclosures are allowed. Do not add "interest-free", a rate, or an instalment amount to a line that does not already contain it. Changing the wording can change the disclosure you must show.

Klarna will audit your website

Klarna will audit your website from time to time using automated means to ensure compliance with these requirements. We will notify you if we discover any discrepancies between approved messaging and disclosures. Any failure to remedy identified issues can result in your immediate suspension from further use of Klarna as a payment method on your website.

What is CCD2?

CCD2 is the revised EU Consumer Credit Directive. Its main change is that short, often interest-free credit, including Pay in 3 or Pay in 30 days, is treated as formally regulated consumer credit. Longer-term financing was already covered by the previous directive.
CCD2 regulates Klarna as the credit provider. You are offering Klarna as a payment method. You do not need to do credit checks or present pre-contractual information.
Act No. 312/2025 Coll., sections 1(6) and 5, applies to credit agreements concluded on or after 20 November 2026.

What you need to change

Before 20 November 2026, update any advertising that mentions a Klarna credit product:
  • Use only the copy in the tables below, with the disclosure in the same row.
  • Use "Warning! Borrowing money costs money." or a similar formulation. The wording is not fixed.
  • If a line says the credit is interest-free, or states a borrowing rate or a figure for the total cost of the credit, add the example shown for that line. For interest-free Pay in 3 and Pay in 30, the short example is enough.
  • Klarna's checkout and On-Site Messaging will be updated automatically by Klarna. The following guideline is only if you are not using Klarna's OSM and automated integrations.
Pay in 3 is a default product in Slovakia. Pay in 30 days is available only on request. Financing is not offered, so this page has no financing copy.

What is a risk warning, and when do you include it?

A risk warning tells the shopper that borrowing has a cost. In Slovakia the wording is not fixed. Section 5(2) requires a clear and prominent warning, or a similar formulation, on every credit advertisement or offer. Use this sentence:
Warning! Borrowing money costs money.
In Slovak: Pozor! Požičanie peňazí stojí peniaze.
Include it on every advertisement that presents a Klarna credit product, including interest-free Pay in 3 and Pay in 30 days. A line that only names Klarna, and does not mention paying later, instalments, or financing, does not need it.
Place the warning with equal prominence, directly next to the advertisement. Do not hide it in a footer, a terms page, or a smaller type that is difficult to read. There is no required graphic.

Why an example is required

Where an advertisement states a borrowing rate or any figure relating to the total cost of the credit, section 5(3) requires the borrowing rate, and whether it is fixed or variable, the charges, the total amount of credit, and the APR (RPMN in Slovak). Where section 1(6) does not apply, it must also include the duration, the sale price and any advance payment, and the total amount payable and the instalments.
Section 1(6) waives the duration, the sale price and any advance payment, and the total amount payable and the instalments for credit below €200, for interest- and charge-free credit, and for credit repaid within three months with insignificant charges. Interest-free Pay in 3 and Pay in 30, with no charges, use the short example.
Saying that credit is interest-free is a statement about cost, so those lines need the short example as well as the warning.
The approved Pay in 30 lines do not say "interest-free" and do not state a cost, so the warning is enough. If an advertisement does say that Pay in 30 is interest-free, add this example: Warning! Borrowing money costs money. Example: total amount of credit €300, fixed borrowing rate 0%, no charges, APR 0%.
Where the waiver does not apply, the sale price and any advance payment, and the total amount payable and the instalments, may be left out of a non-visual advertisement, or placed one click, scroll, or swipe away on a screen that cannot show them clearly (section 5(5)).

Other restrictions

Section 5(6) of Act No. 312/2025 Coll. Advertising of consumer credit is prohibited where it:
a) encourages the consumer to conclude a consumer credit agreement by claiming this will improve the consumer's financial situation; b) states that outstanding credit, including consumer credit, processed in databases has little or no effect on the assessment of a consumer credit application; c) falsely suggests that consumer credit leads to an increase in financial resources, replaces savings, or can raise the consumer's standard of living; d) emphasises the ease of meeting the conditions necessary to obtain consumer credit; e) states that a discount on the price of goods or a service is conditional on concluding a consumer credit agreement; or f) offers the possibility of deferring consumer credit instalments for more than three months.

Klarna tieto podklady aktualizuje pred 20. novembrom 2026.

  • Pokladňu a On-Site Messaging Klarna aktualizuje Klarna automaticky. Nasledujúce usmernenie platí, len ak nepoužívate OSM Klarna a automatizované integrácie.

§ 5 ods. 2 vyžaduje jasné a výrazné upozornenie, alebo obdobné znenie, v každej reklame alebo ponuke úveru. Použite túto vetu:
Pozor! Požičanie peňazí stojí peniaze.
Uveďte ju v každej reklame, ktorá predstavuje úverový produkt Klarna, vrátane bezúročnej platby v 3 splátkach a o 30 dní. Riadok, ktorý len uvádza Klarna a nespomína neskoršiu platbu, splátky ani financovanie, ju nepotrebuje.
Umiestnite upozornenie rovnako výrazne, priamo vedľa reklamy. Neskrývajte ho v päte, na stránke podmienok ani v ťažko čitateľnom písme. Určená grafika sa nevyžaduje.

Prečo sa vyžaduje príklad

Ak reklama uvádza úrokovú sadzbu alebo akékoľvek číslo o celkových nákladoch úveru, § 5 ods. 3 vyžaduje úrokovú sadzbu a to, či je pevná alebo pohyblivá, poplatky, celkovú výšku úveru a RPMN. Ak sa neuplatní § 1 ods. 6, musí uviesť aj trvanie, predajnú cenu a preddavok a celkovú splatnú sumu a splátky.
§ 1 ods. 6 odpúšťa trvanie, predajnú cenu a preddavok a celkovú splatnú sumu a splátky pri úvere pod 200 €, pri úvere bez úroku a poplatkov a pri úvere splatenom do troch mesiacov s nevýznamnými poplatkami. Bezúročná platba v 3 splátkach a o 30 dní, bez poplatkov, používa krátky príklad.
