Scope of this page
This page is only relevant if you were on the Klarna dispute process for virtual card orders before August 17, 2026. If you started settling Klarna orders with virtual cards after that date, read Handling disputes instead.

You handle one fewer system, and disputes now follow the same process you already run for every other card transaction.

Which process a dispute follows

Which process a dispute follows is fixed at the moment the customer raises it:
  • Disputes raised before August 17, 2026 stay on the Klarna dispute process. You still need to answer them in the Merchant Portal Disputes App until they close.
  • Disputes raised on or after August 17, 2026 come to you as chargebacks through your acquirer.
So for a period the two run side by side: a shrinking set of open Klarna disputes to finish, and chargebacks arriving through your acquirer.

Finishing your open Klarna disputes

Keep answering your open Klarna disputes in the Merchant Portal Disputes App, to the deadlines they already carry. Nothing about them changes: a lost dispute still appears on the separate monthly statement for lost disputes, and still carries the Klarna dispute fee. No new disputes are added to this set, so it only shrinks.

After your last Klarna dispute closes

Once no pre-cutover Klarna disputes remain, every dispute on your virtual card orders is a chargeback through your acquirer. Handling disputes is the page to use from then on. This page is retired once no pre-cutover Klarna disputes remain.
